Broadcastr is a revolutionary social media platform for making and managing location-based audio stories. Astea developed Broadcastr on behalf of Electric Literature of New York City.
Broadcastr enables the recording, indexing, hearing, and sharing of audio content. Just as with human memory, each story is associated with a place. Whether dishing details about last night to friends, uncovering local lore, perusing restaurant reviews, listening to travel guides, tuning into citizen journalism, contemplating oral histories, or sharing anecdotes, Broadcastr amplifies all of our voices. Users can take a GPS-enabled walk, listening as stories about their surroundings stream into their headphones, much like a museum tour of the world at large. Users can record their own content, create playlists, follow their friends, and share their moments on Facebook.
Broadcastr runs on the Google Apps Engine and has been developed for three platforms: Web, iOS, and Android.
