NABU’s storytelling platform
The case
The global non-profit organization NABU works to create a bridge to equality, one mother tongue story at a time. Astea Solutions proudly took part in NABU’s journey as an exclusive technology partner supporting NABU’s mission with the development of NABU’s storytelling platform.
The product
In countries like Haiti, Rwanda, or the Democratic Republic of Congo, books are often in a foreign language and lack cultural relevance. NABU builds a bridge to literacy by offering children free and captivating stories in their mother tongue, helping them rise to their full potential. To achieve this on a large scale, NABU entrusted Astea with the task to design and develop its proprietary publishing and content delivery platform.
Results
The storytelling platform supports a collection of books available in English, French, Haitian Creole, Kinyarwanda, Swahili, and Lingala. Books in NABU’s library cover all reading levels so that children can move up to more complex levels gradually according to their abilities. The reader mobile app also supports analytics that provides insights into content distribution and the reading progress of users. Astea’s team works alongside NABU to make this possible in areas with limited or no internet access. To date, the platform offers over 2,000 books and has reached over 30,000 readers and their families in Rwanda and Haiti.
