Traditionally, at the end of June, we marked the end of the spring edition of our internship program – the first for the year, but already the eleventh edition for us. Six developers and three DevOps engineers joined the challenge to develop their software skills at Astea. For the first time, our mentoring team decided to launch the internship program in two stages. The young DevOps colleagues started work first ‒ two weeks earlier to take advantage of a longer lecture part, at the end of which they smoothly synchronized their tasks with those of our intern developers. So everyone joined forces in developing the team project in the second part of the program. The application that the team created aims to help the users to organize and systematize their holiday or trip, as well as keep a kind of diary of memories. It gives a wide range of options for arranging destination preferences, choosing transport and accommodation, creating a list of attractions and calculating the budget. Last but not least, all information can be shared with friends and loved ones with whom the user has chosen to travel, all that is needed is to use their Google account. Astea’s interns were grateful to the experienced team of mentors and that they were able to go deep into software development processes. They did not deny that they also faced many difficulties, but they are adamant that this created a solid foundation for them to start their development as specialists.
