Astea is an engineering company first. Our co-founders hold PhDs and teach at Sofia University's Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics. This passion for education spans our entire team: several of our engineers are permanent faculty members and many others actively shape the next generation of tech talent as assistant lecturers. That academic backbone shows up in how we hire, how we design systems, and how we debate trade-offs in code review.
The work is varied and consequential. Our engineers build for Fortune 500 companies and for early-stage startups in the same week — telemedicine platforms, reinsurance risk systems, AI-powered recommendation engines, fintech integrations touching most U.S. payroll systems, K–12 and higher-ed platforms. We are technology agnostic and pick the right tool for each problem: Node, Ruby, C#, Python, TypeScript, React, Angular, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, Azure.
