The components were deployed as a part of a complex ecosystem, combining a real-time, cloud-based synchronization and collaboration back-end, an advanced OEM-based DRM solution, and a web-based dashboard system. Read and Write were designed to be embeddable in various wrappers and to conform to strict design and security requirements complying with Federal and State government regulations.
In addition to the standard reading and navigation functionality, the Read application supports selection and highlighting of text passages and commenting on sentences and paragraphs. The Write application supports the creation and editing of rich text with images, audio, and video directly on the tablet.
The Read and Write components were a part of an Amplify ecosystem that enables teachers and students to connect with one another by means of a tablet device providing synchronous access to rich multimedia educational content. Both components are in use in schools throughout the United States.
